Marcel Zandvliet has been the CMO, CSO, and member of the Executive Committee of the Dutch Flower Group (DFG) since 2011. The DFG is a family-owned business with over 30 companies specializing in the international trade of flowers and plants. It conducts business in over 100 countries, with 5,000 employees and an annual turnover of more than €2 billion.
His role includes responsibility for both marketing and sustainability strategy. Since 2013, Marcel has been involved with sustainability initiatives in the sector, including being one of the founders of the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI). In 2019, this led to becoming a member of the FSI Board, and since 2022 also adopting the role of Vice Chair. Between 2017 and 2022, he was involved with the International Responsible Business Conduct for Floriculture through the IRBC Agreement Floriculture.
Since 2023, Marcel is also member of the GLOBALG.A.P. Advisory Board.
