Supply Chain Legislation: Unpacking Social and Environmental Sustainability Requirements

Personal statement

Now more than ever is a pivotal time in agriculture. In recent years we have seen vast changes in regulations, emerging risks, a changing environment, consumer demands and a more vocal supply chain. I invite others to come join in the global conversation taking place at the GLOBALG.A.P. SUMMIT so that we can collaborate and work together toward finding solutions to some of the world’s greatest challenges in the agricultural sector.

About

Jennifer Pulcipher is the Director of Food Safety and Sustainability for North Bay Produce – a grower-owned cooperative of more than 30 grower-owners from North, Central, and South America, with expanding operations in Europe and Africa.

The cooperative produces fresh fruits and vegetables year-round – from asparagus to apples, berries, and snow and sugar snap peas. Headquartered in Traverse City, the northwest corner of Michigan’s lower peninsula in the United States, the international company markets and distributes the products worldwide.

Jennifer is responsible for overseeing food safety throughout the company’s supply chain, as well as the development and implementation of North Bay’s sustainability strategy, leading the charge on all corporate food safety, sustainability and compliance initiatives.

Jennifer serves in various volunteer leadership roles throughout the fresh produce community, including the GLOBALG.A.P. Technical Committee for Fruit and Vegetables and the GLOBALG.A.P. Environmental Sustainability Working Group. She also chairs the International Fresh Produce Association’s (IFPA) Food Safety Council and is on the IFPA Board of Directors.
