Smallholder View on Compliance: Opportunities and Challenges

Personal statement

Scheme owners play an important role in the transition to more transparency within supply chains. By setting up sectoral standards – in mutual cooperation with leading sector players, cooperatives and associations – they can help sectors qualify and quantify their sector data, which is necessary for drawing up sectoral strategies and sector goals. The GLOBALG.A.P. SUMMIT brings all parties together to talk about this transition to more transparency.

About

Floor Schamp graduated in Slavic Languages and Literature (University of Groningen, 1999) and started her career in the Horticulture Sector in 2001 at the Flower Council of Holland (FCH). Beginning as Area Manager Russia, Ukraine and GOS-countries, she was responsible for the Flower Council’s marketing and promotion strategy. This included the approach to Eastern European markets, taking the role of head and organizer of the annual Dutch Pavilion at the international trade fair Flowers Moscow, as well as acting as strategic consultant on market development and opportunities.

In 2010, Floor became MT member and director of the Account Operations department, managing the foreign offices of FCH in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain. In 2013, she started a new position as Senior Account Manager at Nieuwkoop Europe, where she successfully set up sales to Russia. However, after working in sales for seven years, it was time again to serve the sector and more joint sectoral goals.

Floor then started a new position as Strategic Advisor Sustainability at the Dutch Association of Wholesalers in Floricultural Products (VGB) in March 2020. As Strategic Advisor, she helps members with the implementation of European legislation (CSDDD/CSRD) and is also highly involved in transforming the floriculture sector into a more sustainable sector by informing member wholesalers and their suppliers about certification, footprinting, and setting up sectoral infrastructures for the exchange of (qualitative and quantitative) data on sustainability. This requires a joint sectoral vision and close connection/cooperation between chain links and sector stakeholders.
