After involvement in academia, Elmé moved into the world of food safety and security assurance and started working at FoodPLUS GmbH in 2003. Working her way up, she has always been mindful of closing the gaps in the primary production certification system.
As co-Managing Director, this is still her goal – to ensure that FoodPLUS creates tools and opportunities at primary production level for the demonstration of the safe and responsible production of food. At the same time, she seeks to balance out the needs and demands from consumers set forward by retailers and others in the context of the capabilities and reality of farming.
